Understand the main reason behind it when you try to install any Microsoft .NET 4.6 or higher on Windows 7

The .NET Framework 4.8 is not supported on this operating system.

The main reason is Windows 7 without Service Pack 1 installed

If you install Microsoft .NET Framework version 4.6 or higher then you will definitely get the message like The .NET Framework is not supported on this operating system on Windows 7 system where Service Pack 1 is not installed. So if your Windows 7 is not updated with Service Pack 1 you must have to download and install Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 manually. Let’s start installation of Microsoft .NET Framework in 3 step-by-step wizard

Step -1: Install the Service Pack 1 on Windows 7 PC first as the link given above.

Step -2: Now click to download and install KB3033929 from Microsoft site as per your system architecture. We will download the 64-bit as our Windows 7 system type is 64-bit as shown in the above image.

This KB3033929 is actually patch your system with updated Microsoft Root Certificate Authority so that you will never get any error message again. Without this patch you will get the messages like Installation did not succeed .NET Framework has not been installed because: A certificate chain processed, but terminated in a root certificate which is not trusted by the trust provider. While trying to install Microsoft .NET Framework on Windows 7 system.

Now you’re finally updated the Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 and patched with KB3033929.

Step -3: Let’s begin to install Microsoft .NET Framework on Windows 7 machine. We recommend you to download always the Offline installer of any Microsoft .NET Framework version as the image shown below. Right click on Microsoft .NET Framework setup file and click on Run as administrator
